My husband Doug and I have eight children. Four are birth children- four are adopted. Our heart has been to adopt older “special needs” kids. (Kids can be labeled “special needs" due to being older, because of their age and if it is a sibling group).
I continue to be amazed by these children and their resilience. Their young hearts are healing from some horrible injustices and if anyone had the right to be mad at the world, it would be them- but Doug and I have seen these kids learn how to love and trust again.
We have seen the “birth kids” bond and accept new siblings without hesitation.
When there are trials and challenges we see God provide- again and again!
In the 2007-2008 school year- I will have 3 boys in 4th grade- one of them is white, one is black and one is Chinese! That is a picture of heaven to me!
There are tragedies in this world that can be redeemed. Every one of us can make a difference.
I can let the problems of the world drive me into a depression, or I can be available to make a difference. It is my choice. I chose to think happy- and to impact the world around me.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2005 at the age of 62. I owned a successful company, held offices in Rotary, served on many volunteer boards and was active in my church. Parkinson’s was not part of my “plan.”
I knew that Parkinson’s is a progressively degenerative disease- both mentally and physically. So how is it that I have come to see getting this disease as a “gift”?
Illness can make some people want to isolate themselves from the world, but Parkinson’s helped me realize how much I wanted to IMPACT this world of ours!
I cannot do things physically today like I once could. I struggle with pain and limitations and take a massive amount of pills each day. But I trust my God and his plan. And He brings new joys and surprises each day.
I never thought I would start a new business venture at age 63. But think happy stuff, inc. has a lot to offer this world of ours- a reminder of HOPE and how we can make a difference.
